I am a Theatre Practitioner based in North Yorkshire
I work in both a community, practical and academic capacity all under the umbrella of 'theatre'.
I am the Artistic Director of The York Stars Theare Company in which I also undertake script writing for the group and I have had scripts performed by other companies throughout Yorkshire. I have most recently directed the musical premier of Platform Nine
I am the director of the Theatre Company 'The Wolds Wonders' which is a musical performance group for adults with learning difficulties.
I have also worked on the Educational piece of theatre 'Broken Doll' written by North East playwright, Dennis Westgate. This received funding by York City Council and was toured during March 2009. I am due to undertake a project with a group of children on World War Two which will be taken into local residential homes.
One of my site specific pieces will be performed in York Minster as part of Minster Nights in January 2010
I am a drama contributor for Routledge ABES and have presented a my paper entitled 'Can documentation re-create and enhance theatre?' at the SIBMAS conference, held at The Royal Scottish Academy of Dance and Drama in Glasgow.
I believe in making theatre accessible to everyone, so I ensure a percentage of the tickets for each show I produce are free to those who couldn't normally afford to attend the theatre. I feel money shouldn’t be a barrier and I want as many people as possible to experience theatre. I believe that theatre can have a positive impact in people’s lives and this is reflected through my work.
I am also an active performer, both with The York Stars and with other theatre companies and have played the prinicpal roles of Miss Sherman in' Fame The Musical' and Ruth in 'The Pirates of Penzance' at York Theatre Royal. I will be playing the role of 'Viola' in Shakespeare's 'Twelfth Night' this December.
This website combines information from my different areas of work and please feel free to contact me about any aspect of my work.
